John M. Ludu, 49, of Port Clinton died Sunday morning, August 28, at his residence. He was born on December 15, 1967, in Chula Vista, CA. John worked for many years at several of the local marinas. John loved everything about the 80's, especially the movies and music. Movies such as Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Back to the Future, Vacation, Planes, Trains and Automobiles. John is survived by his lifetime partner, Kimberly S. Gray Ludu of Port Clinton; daughter, Dana M. Ludu of Memphis, TN; sisters, Barbara Ann Kunselman of Greenville, PA, and Sharon Torrey of Huron, OH; brothers, Robert G. Torrey of Memphis, TN, and Michael D. Ludu of Tuscon, AZ; niece, Kelli (Robert) Alexander; nephews, James Kunselman, Jonathan (Emily) Lindberg, Jacob Lindberg, Jared (Danielle) Lindberg and Joseph Lindberg; as well as three great nieces.
He will be greatly missed by his beloved canines Nina, Aiden, and Wen.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna M. Ludu on April 19, 2006; and father, John Ludu Jr. on November 30, 1993.
There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11 a.m., September 2, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kelleys Island. Burial will be in Kelleys Island Cemetery.

Carol Ann (Vassallo) Wildenthaler, 76, of Marblehead, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, August 30, in Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness. She was born in Sandusky on August 9, 1940 to the late James and Mary (Corder) Vassallo. Carol worked as a physical therapy aide at both Betty Rinderle and numerous area hospitals.
A devoted wife and mother, Carol loved to spend time with her family. She was a social person, making friends wherever she went. She loved to tell jokes. She traveled the world over, taking many trips and cruises. She also enjoyed going to casinos. She could play many instruments, most notably the organ, piano and accordion. An avid bowler and golfer, Carol was Sandusky’s first female member of the Sandusky Bowling Hall of Fame. She also golfed in many Mills Creek leagues. She supported the Sandusky State Theater, and also loved to fish. She remained active as long and she could and loved to drop a line in the water!
Carol is survived by her children, James (Ginny) Wildenthaler, of Texas, Ronald C. (Tina) Wildenthaler, Jr., of Sandusky, Connie (Christopher) Pengov, of Marblehead, and Cheryl (Jerry) Goff, of Sandusky; 10 grandchildren, Jimmy, Sabrina, Samantha, Nicole, Cori, Joshua, Laci, Christine, Kelly, and Terry; and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Ronald C. Wildenthaler, Sr.
At Carol’s request, there will be no viewing. A committal service will take place on Saturday, September 3 at 11 a.m. inside the mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky. Chaplain David Clarke will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carol’s name to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore line, Sandusky, OH 44870.

Thomas Otto Karst unexpectedly passed away on September 4, in Port Clinton. Born in Toledo, to Marie Beck Karst and Otto Thomas Karst on February 19, 1938. He is a 1956 graduate of Toledo Central Catholic High School. He married his high school sweetheart, and true love, Barbara Ann Hirschle on December 30, 1958 in Toledo. The arrival of babies had Tom rethink his career path, and he became interested in Child Psychology. Tom earned a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1960, a Master of Arts in 1962 and his PhD in 1966, all from The Ohio State University, which he loved dearly. His pursuit of higher education took him and the family to Mattapoisett, Massachusetts (University of Brockton) and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Temple University) before he brought the family back to Toledo and a rewarding career at the Medical College of Ohio. There Tom served as the head of the Phycology Dept. he worked there from 1973 to 1993. Tom loved teaching and practicing Child Psychology. He treasured getting drawings from the grandchildren. We knew he was analyzing them to ensure they were on track for their psychological development!
He was a founding Member of Bittersweet Farms, an Autistic Community for young adults. He was a published Author, Mentor and friend to many. Tom believed in a strong work ethic, and often told stories of his paper route or working with his Father at the Grocery Store at a young age. He taught us to work for what you want, and to value what you have. In addition to music, Tom loved to sail in his younger years, was an avid reader, especially about history and politics, and he enjoyed spending time watching golf and other sports.
Tom is survived by his son Kenneth, daughters Laura, Linda, Sarah, their husbands Paul Sturton, Mark Stone, Robert Nicholson, 9 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren, sisters Carol Karst Brenneman Walker, Judy Karst Myers and husband Jerry. Brothers in law, Carl and John Hirschle, their wives Judy and Janelle, many nieces, nephews, and life-long friends.
A funeral mass and memorial service will be held Friday, September 9, at 10:30 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Port Clinton, OH. Officiate is Father John Missler. Interment will be at Christy Chapel Cemetery, Port Clinton. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes you to create a memory with someone you love, and raise a toast to Tom. Angelo J. Cuttaia, 77, of Port Clinton, passed away on Monday, September 12, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital in Toledo. He was born on July 22, 1939 in Sandusky. Visitation was held on Thursday, September 15, at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton.
On Friday, September 16, prayers began at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison Street, Port Clinton, with Father John C. Missler officiating. Burial followed at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Marblehead.
Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception School, Port Clinton Athletic Boosters, or to the Port Clinton Knights of Columbus.
