Joan Bowen Loeffler, 87, of Catawba Island, Ohio, died peacefully surrounded by her family early Thursday morning, Nov. 8. She was born in Kankakee, Illinois on March 27, 1931. Raised until her early teens in Chicago, Illinois, her family moved to Stony Ridge, Ohio where she graduated valedictorian of her class at North Troy High School (Lemoyne, Ohio). She was awarded a full ride scholarship to Flora Stone Mather College aka Case Western Reserve University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Joan later pursued post graduate work at both George Washington University and Bowling Green State University.…
